The Young 40 is a development of the Bull 12000 and is being built by owner Bernard Dechoux from France. Bernard works all over the world in the auto industry and has built the Young 40 in an unconventional yet quite amazing manor. Bernard has built all the bulkheads and small component parts in the various locations where he is living and shipped them back to France where he is building the Hull and deck and assembling the vessel. Bernard is a very determined and skilled boat builder and has done a fantastic job despite this unconventional process.
The Young 40 is designed for short handed sailing and uses the Bull sprit for effective downwind sailing. The interior is reasonably simple and while not set up for conventional cruising, Bernard plans to sail offshore and live onboard for extended periods and take part in various short handed races. We look forward to when he completes this labour of love.
